Hagia Sophia

Hagia Sophia is a significant symbol of Istanbul’s and the Eastern Roman Empire’s illustrious history. Originally constructed as a Christian basilica by the Roman Emperor Justinian, it was formally known as the Church of God’s Holy Wisdom. Completed in AD 537, it became the world’s largest interior space and one of the first to feature a fully pendentive dome. Considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture, it is said to have changed the history of architecture. During Ottoman rule, it was converted into the impressive Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque.

In 2024, the gallery level of Hagia Sophia was opened for foreign visitors, and Yurdaer Mimarlık designed and built the signage, information boards, and barriers, seamlessly blending them into the atmosphere with respect.
